Gutter System Maintenance

Regularly clean all debris from gutters and downspouts, especially during the months of fall and spring. This is important because a clogged gutter can fill with water and freeze causing an ice dam. We recommend installing gutter baskets or strainers to prevent downspouts from getting clogged.

If some straps are sagging or broken, replace them with new bolts or screws. This needs to be done in order to maintain proper functioning of the gutter system and prevent permanent damage.

If there are small holes on the gutter, you can seal them with epoxy resin, for larger holes you can use adhesive-backed aluminum tape.

Also, re-caulking may be a good idea to seal leaking joints, make sure to get a silicon or butyl rubber caulking compound.
